TTW presents Delon’s Orpheus

Playwrights Workshop Trinibago will present for June 1, in its Readers Theatre Series 2016, Danielle Delon’s screenplay Orpheus.

In Orpheus, Danielle Delon joins the likes of Virgil and Ovid, and all the myriad of poets down the ages, to re-tell the Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. A release said the story in her screen version, set in the Caribbean diaspora and on the islands of T&T, takes on a distinctive West Indian twist, moving from the drama, bacchanal and splendour of the Notting Hill Carnival to the intensity of the devotees in the Orisa rituals of the Shango yards. Delon’s characters, with elements drawn from the myth grafted on to our familiar Caribbean personas, will resonate with us in our present day environment.
